Message from The Principal:

“As Limpopo Chefs Academy is a small business, we experienced similar challenges to any other small business in the area when we first opened our doors in 2014. One major challenge was sourcing qualified staff of high standards and resources in the area which was overcome by strategic alliance and relationships with key stakeholders. Another challenge was receiving some negative press back in 2014, something that we had been expecting since the media is constantly alerting consumers of fly-by-night operations. Nevertheless, we’ve managed to iron out those negative images with results shown by our students flourishing at practical establishments where they have been placed.
People in Limpopo no longer need to leave their borders and move to bigger cities in pursuit of world class hospitality training and education.” – Chef Tommie Hurter
Director & Principal

Limpopo Chefs Academy Info:

While the province is rich in wildlife and luxe lodges, Limpopo has never had many training providers servicing the Hospitality industry. Seeing the gap in the market, Chef Tommie Hurter opened Limpopo Chefs Academy in Mokopane.

Limpopo is a province known for its vast cultural heritage and history, but not for its academic excellence.

Owner and founder, Chef Tommie Hurter, graduate of the Capital Hotel School, worked in Canada before returning to Pretoria to open up The Fly Lounge in Pretoria East. When visiting his home province of Limpopo, he was offered a position at Fusion Boutique Hotel before joining the Waterberg FET College as chef lecturer.

This is where he discovered his passion for teaching and to carry over his knowledge of the Hospitality Industry.

Aiming to produce high quality scholars and chefs, Limpopo Chefs Academy offers a number of services that aren’t found in the area, namely training in wines and viticulture. The Academy has received a vast amount of support from various hotel groups and hospitality service providers, as the Number 1 choice for training and skills development for existing employees.

Shaping Peoples Future

“Shaping People’s Future” is the slogan of Limpopo Chefs Academy (LCA), which opened its doors in 2014, to provide all-round training in the hospitality industry.

The Campuses at 82 Rabe Street, Mokopane and 21 Sapphire Street, Polokwane, Limpopo Province, offers state-of-the-art facilities to ensure that students get the most desirable quality training available.

LCA prides itself on its high standards of excellence and growing reputation within the hospitality industry.
